I am Mrs. Lakshmi, School Headmaster of Middle School, Veerandhapuram. Our students suffered due to the non-availability of toilets, as they had to move around to the nearest bushes or places with huge plants by crossing the main road. Sometimes, girl children used to go to their home during intervals and did not return back to school. It increased the drop-out rate specifically among girls. Hence, we approached REAL organization seeking support to construct toilets in our school. They have constructed toilet blocks for girls and boys separately and handed over to us with water tank facilities. This is a great support for us this year, which helps to increase the percentage of attendance among girls and addresses the problem of school drop-outs. In order to have regular maintenance of the toilet blocks, we formed a school sanitation committee, that would monitor the regular cleanliness.
